The Clear Solution for Cleaner Engines

EcoServices Celebrates Ten Successful Years
of Environmentally-Friendly Engine Washing

Published Date: Oct 8, 2014

Singapore, 8 October 2014 – ST Aerospace’s US affiliate company EcoServices celebrates its tenth successful year of operations with multiple contract wins and the completion of 50,000 EcoPower® environmentally friendly engine washes. Recent contracts awarded include new engine wash, renewal and lease for both commercial and military customers in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and the US. The new orders are expected to add about 1,200 washes annually

The 50,000 engine wash milestone comprises washes performed in the 26 company operated service centres worldwide and those conducted by customers using on-lease equipment.

Since 2004, EcoServices has served over 170 airline customers globally, who own a range of 68 aircraft types equipped with 82 different engine models.

The EcoPower® engine wash uses pure, atomised water – there are no chemicals in the process and no spills on the tarmac. As it is a closed loop system, wash water is collected and recycled, with no effluent escaping into the groundwater. In addition, EcoPower® is a patented system which has been approved for on-airport use at airports around the world - engine washes can be performed right at the gate, allowing aircraft to take off immediately after.

In terms of resource optimisation, this award winning engine wash can reduce fuel burn by as much as 50m gallons every year. This translates into annual cost savings of around US$150m and a reduction of carbon dioxide emission by over 500,000 tons per year. Customers thus benefit from longer engine on-wing time due to ‘slower’ performance deterioration. This will in turn reduce engine maintenance cost and improve aircraft availability.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment for 50,000 engine washes, which would not be possible without a dedicated team and strong partnerships with our customers. At EcoServices, we are acutely aware of the need for constant innovation and strong collaboration with industry partners to bring long term value to our customers.” William Welch, President, EcoServices
